About This Calculator
Our tile calculator helps you estimate materials for your tiling project. Enter your room dimensions and choose your tile size to get an approximate count of tiles needed, including a waste allowance for cuts and breakages.
The calculator also estimates how much tile adhesive and grout to buy, based on standard coverage rates from brands like Mapei and BAL. Results include bag size suggestions so you know what to look for at B&Q or your local tile shop.
Waste Allowance
We add 10% waste for straight (grid) layouts and 15% for diagonal patterns. This accounts for cuts at edges, breakages, and any tiles with defects. For complex room shapes or large-format tiles, you may want to add a little extra.
These calculations are estimates based on standard manufacturer coverage rates. Actual quantities may vary depending on surface conditions, wastage, and application technique. Always verify quantities with your supplier before purchasing.
